- Contracts- Being a union member provides you with a contract that sets wages, paid holidays, worker's rights and job security
- Benefits- With the contract comes benefits such as medical, dental and vision care, life insurance and a pension plan. Many jobs that are not unionized either do not have benefits or come at a big expense to the worker. This is a very important thing for many Canadians.
- Education- Being a UFCW member allows you access to webCampus, an online learning centre with a vast array of free courses. You can take courses to gain a certificate through webCampus in Media and Communications, Retail Sector Specialist, and Human Rights Advocacy. The UFCW also provides scholarships for union members and their families.
- Advocacy- On top of advocating for your rights as a worker in contract negotiations and during labour disputes, the union also has many advocacy campaigns for important issues such as equality and pensions.
